Thank you for reaching out to become a Rescue Partner of the Humane Society of Southern Illinois! We are a very small 501(c)3, non-profit Open Access facility that takes in every animal that is brought to us by the public as well as being the holding facility for all of Jackson County Animal Controls. Currently, we are also the holding facility for some of the surrounding Animal Controls in our area as well.

We have a very small Limited Access adoption program on-site. However, with our high intake, we do not have space or funding to put every animal into that program. We need licensed rescues to assist in taking in those animals we are not able to place for adoption.

We are happy to provide basic information about any animal as well as temperament information if available. We do not have a veterinarian on staff so medical evaluations and services are limited. Transportation of animals from the Humane Society to receiving rescues will need to be determined in a timely matter either through volunteer drivers, Transport partners, or your facilities own transportation services.

The Humane Society of Southern Illinois reserves the right to deny a rescue from pulling based on findings and/or will limit the number of animals pulled at any time.
